Rosalie Jennifer Desirée

Rosalie Jennifer Desirée (RJD) is a contemporary artist based in the Netherlands. She is recognized for her style in which she interweaves realism and abstraction on reclaimed wooden surfaces.

At a very young age Rosalie had an interest in art. Every sheet of paper laying near her was quickly filled with her fantasies and her father always needed to do the groceries with a shopping list filled with doodles.

At the age of 13 Rosalie developed an interest in drawing the human face. She started analyzing and sketching faces to learn how to capture someone’s spirit and soul. She came to understand the powers of observation and the values of light and dark tones to create lifelike artworks.

Rosalie studied Communications at Inholland University of Applied Sciences in Rotterdam because of her interest in behavior and visual communications. She got her bachelor in 2021 and moved to the other side of her country to gain new inspiration and focus on her art.

She surrounded herself by nature and started experimenting with reclaimed wood and developed her own art style.

All of us have a story to tell, a personal narrative that captures the essence of who we are and what we’ve lived through. We all have scars like reclaimed wood does. It’s what makes us unique. The backgrounds are abstract, dynamic and colorful reflecting the ups and downs in life. They tell you to celebrate life.”

With her art Rosalie wants you to experience that your story is what makes you unique and she wants to inspire you to reflection. “What we see in others reveals sacred information about who we are ourselves.”
