My name is Rosalie Jennifer Desirée (RJD), and as a visual artist I am inspired by encounters, observations and the beauty of everyday life. 

What I see and experience along the way, I bring into my studio, where these moments evolve into layered artworks on wood. Here, realistic elements merge with colour, texture, and abstraction.

In 2021, I completed my bachelor’s degree in Communication in Rotterdam. My fascination with stories has always remained and continues to be an important thread throughout my artistic practice.

Shortly after graduating, I moved to Limburg to find new inspiration and to fully dedicate myself to my art. In Limburg, I discovered a material that perfectly aligns with my way of working: wood. Its natural grains, cracks, and knots are far more than just a surface to me. They carry their own story and reflect the imperfections and scars that make us human.

In Limburg ontdekte ik een materiaal dat perfect aansluit bij mijn manier van werken: hout. De natuurlijke nerven, scheuren en noesten zijn voor mij veel meer dan een ondergrond. Ze vertellen hun eigen verhaal en weerspiegelen de imperfecties en littekens die ons menselijk maken.

I invite the viewer to pause and reflect on what unfolds in the present moment, and to discover the stories often hidden within the smallest, everyday details, while at the same time leaving space for personal interpretation and individual narratives.
