Marjolein approached me with the idea of surprising her father with a drawing of Leidschendam, the place where he was born and raised.

In addition to the sluice and church of Leidschendam, the drawing is filled with personal details. Dog Ollie takes action on a motorcycle, his boat sails through the canal, and the hands of the church clock are set to 6 o’clock. It is a unique artwork created for his 60th birthday.

The artwork, measuring 50 × 70 cm, was picked up from my studio. The personal interaction and the opportunity to hand over the artwork in person made it even more special. During the drawing process, I regularly shared updates and sketched a composition beforehand to discuss and align my ideas.

It is truly special to create a unique artwork that brings together different memories.
